We added the Neighborhood-Kids.com Forum a few months ago, and we’re excited about its ability to get parents actively involved with this site and with each other. Let's look at all the different ways that we believe the Forum can be a fun and useful resource for parents in Bellingham and Whatcom County.

Exchanging Ideas on the Forum Looking for information about kids in Bellingham and Whatcom County? Visit our forum!

If you’ve already registered for Neighborhood-Kids.com, you will need to register separately for the Forum, but you can use the same user name and password. After registration, you’re ready to start exchanging ideas with other parents.

On the Forum, you can chat with parents about the day-to-day “kid stuff,” from learning how to deal with “the Terrible Twos” to the funny stories about adventures in raising adolescents. You can share your recommendations about local places and things for kids, like great deals for kids clothing around town, or tell us about a fun event that we might not know about.

The Forum is also a good place to check if you’re seeking some “grown-up” interaction. Maybe you’re interested in getting a walking club for moms organized in your neighborhood. Post it in the Forum to see if there are others nearby that would like to join you. Using the Forum to get to know other parents can be a great resource, especially if you’re a new parent or new to town.

We’re also hoping to start some Q&A threads for parents seeking advice from professionals who are “in the know” when it comes to kids. For example, local doula Mary Burgess is going to be answering questions about pregnancy and birthing. With her help, and the help of local doctors, teachers and other experts, the Forum can be a quick first stop for general tips regarding family health, education and other kid-related topics.

What really excites us about the Neighborhood-Kids.com Forum is that it provides a voice for our readers. Your Forum posts can guide Neighborhood-Kids.com Authors when they're writing articles, and can let us know what kinds of Activities for kids you're looking for. It’s also a good place to leave your feedback about what articles you liked reading, and what stories you’d like to read in the future.

A quick note about manners and Forum etiquette for those of you that are still getting the hang of this Internet thing. We want the Neighborhood-Kids.com online community to reflect the friendliness of the citizens in our Northwest community. Posting your opinions or bringing up controversial topics is encouraged, but please remember to discuss issues in a mature and respectful way.
