Whatcom Museum Places to go with kids in Bellingham.

It’s hard to pinpoint just what makes Bellingham, the City of Subdued Excitement, such a special place to live. Skiers and snowboarders appreciate the proximity to Mt. Baker, while kayakers can’t wait to venture out on the Bay. As a college town, Bellingham maintains a youthful energy with opportunities for learning and an appreciation of the arts that all ages can enjoy.  And there’s nothing quite like a Saturday at the Farmers Market to recognize the locally-minded community we inhabit.

But the compliment most consistently paid to our little town is that Bellingham is a great place to raise children. And that’s exactly what sets Neighborhood-Kids.com apart from other parenting websites: an emphasis on raising kids in our local, Bellingham community.

Neighborhood-Kids.com is specific to meeting the needs of Bellingham families. We are constantly searching for local activities for kids, whether it’s the latest exhibit at the Whatcom Children’s Museum or a Spring Break day camp at the YMCA. We also include opportunities and resources for parents, like birthing classes and Mother/Child fitness opportunities. If you’re searching for something to do with the whole family, Neighborhood-Kids.com is the place to look. Our information about local charitable and volunteer opportunities that benefit children is another useful feature for families that are looking to give back to the community.

Trees and Lakes Trees, lakes and trails make our city special.

Our site is also unique thanks to submissions from local contributors. All Neighborhood-Kids.com bloggers and writers are Bellingham parents or professionals (and sometimes both!) who want to share their experiences and expertise with others in our community. Their advice emphasizes a locally cultivated perspective to differentiate us from other parenting sites. When blogger Super-Mama writes an entry about walking the boardwalk from Fairhaven to Boulevard Park, you know right away that you’re reading about someone in Bellingham.

We also provide an opportunity for businesses to advertise on our pages, further connecting kid- and family-related services with Bellingham parents. Just a few ads on our site will help spread the word about small, locally-owned businesses that families can support.

If you’re a parent living in Bellingham, Neighborhood-Kids.com was created with you in mind. We hope you’ll explore our site and get involved.
