Bellingham Arts Academy for Youth, a non-profit performing arts company directed by David Post, is offering an expanded set of class offerings beginning this fall semester, starting September 15th and ending December 19th. These theatre and performing arts classes are for children ages 5 to 14, depending on the course. Some classes require an audition for entry. BAAY also offers art, violin, and piano lessons for kids. Along with new classes listed below, BAAY features seven additional choir and theater classes for kids in Bellingham.
Costume Design and Creation Ages 8 to 14
You will help create the costumes for the BAAY production of “Scrooge”! Instructor Christine Estomo is a fun, talented and enthusiastic teacher! Meets Mondays from 4 to 5:30 PM; cost is $150.
Acting Production Ages 9 to 14 (some 8 year-olds may be admitted)
In this roll-up-your-sleeves class, students will get a chance to learn acting techniques and use them in actual acting scenes. At the end of the semester, the students will have an opportunity to present their work to the public and family/friends. Meets Tuesdays from 5:20 to 6:20 PM; cost is $220.
Recording Studio Workshop Ages 10 to 15
Students will learn the basics of recording, mixing and using midi instruments. They will get the opportunity to make their own recordings and also record their classmates! Meets Thursdays from 4:30 to 5:45 PM; cost is $260.
